Beware of Unlicensed Agencies
Make sure you don't become another statistic – don't use an unlicensed agency. No matter what you are told by people trying to persuade you otherwise, the rules are black and white. The Health and Safety Executive are adamant that all temporary or contract personnel supplied to the industry must be from a licensed and insured labour supplier.
Some companies wrongly claim to have found a "loop-hole" whereby they supply labour which the hiring client pays directly and then the supplier charges their client a commission, introduction or finders fee. Don't be fooled by this - IS YOUR LICENSE REALLY WORTH RISKING. The HSE are imposing heavy penalties on contractors who are hiring labour in this way and those who hire labour from other unlicensed agencies.
